Lenovo Legion Pro 5 AMD real-world performance
The Legion Pro 5 sports a Ryzen 7 8745HX processor that has 8 cores and 16 threads with a base frequency of 3.1GHz and a peak turbo frequency of 5.1Ghz. It uses the older Zen 4 architecture based on a 6nm manufacturing process, meaning the thermal efficiency won't be the best compared to modern 3nm and 4nm chips. It has the AMD Radeon 610M integrated graphics and 32MB L3 cache.
When put head to head against its nearest rival, the 20-core 20-thread Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX, it underperforms in almost every aspect. While it performs significantly better in raw CPU workloads than AMD's own Ryzen 7 350, the latter runs cooler and offers much better battery life. Intel's older Core i series chip, the 14th gen i7 14700HX outperforms the 8745HX in all aspects as well.
Real-world performance is good and most users will be satisfied. However, if battery life is an important consideration for your use case, you'd be better off looking at the Ryzen 7 350 alternatives listed below.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5 alternatives
Lenovo's own Legion Pro 5 Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX variant is a great alternative to this AMD variant and while priced higher, the benefits far outweigh the pricing premium. For starters, the 255HX offers superior multi-core performance and even when it comes to running under idle conditions, its low-powered E-cores enables it to extract almost 2x better battery life compared to the 8745HX. The same coupons mentioned above can be used on this as well to get a healthy discount.
The HP HyperX Omen gaming laptop is another great alternative to the Legion Pro 5 with its Intel Core i7 14650HX processor and RTX 5060 GPU. It also comes with 24GB DDR5 RAM as standard and has the same display resolution of WQXGA(2560 x 1600p) albeit an IPS panel.
